The Boys on the mat that had the close enounter |
Last night I had just finished a talk to a fellowship at Melektri and during the singing afterwarda, every boy and girl on the mats in the front jumped up. No it wasn'
t some move of the Holy Spirit but an enormous centipede that crawled under several of them.
One of the men immediately leaped up and bashed the centipede many times with his hardcovered bible! How symbolic I thought.
The evil centipede. Note the biting mandibles |
Centipedes inflict very painful searingly hot bite. Not only does the bite puncture the skin but a venom is introduced that can cause a foot or hand to swell to double in size. Add to that, centipedes will attack absolutely anything that touches them. The fact it crawled under young bodies and did not bite one is a miracle and everyone knew it! I mean the word miracle in the full meaning of the word too.
It was a poignant reminder, at least for me, that whenever we face attack from the enemy (the centipede) we must ensure that we be prepared to defend ourselves against the attack. We must have always in our hand weapons to fight back. There is no better weapon against the enemy than the Word of God. (The Bible). In this illustration, everyone jumped up in fright but one man was prepared. He used the weapon immediately in his hand - The bible.
And that my friend is Bible Bashing island style!
Psa 91:13 You will subdue a lion and a snake; you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent [and a centipede]
